do the (inner) work is a mental and emotional health mantra + commitment honored by the #blkcreatives community. We’re currently celebrating it with a special edition pin collaboration with Ronald Draper.
Read on to see why this mantra is so important.
“We’re made to grow. You either evolve or you disappear.”
― Tupac Shakur
Your dreams need all of your energy, all of your mind, body, and spirit to manifest. These are all vehicles for your creativity and if they are broken or not working to the best of their abilities, it could literally end our lives.
That’s why as creatives it’s so important to do the (inner) work.
‘Do the (inner) work’ means that you are committed to your mental and emotional health and you’re willing to do what it takes to make sure that you’re good on the inside.do the (inner) work = a commitment to your mental and emotional health with the willingness to do what it takes to make sure that you’re good on the inside. #blkcreatives Click To Tweet
It’s the greatest work of your life because the results will impact EVERY area of your life, even the areas that you didn’t expect. It’s especially important for us as Black creatives because of the things that have tried to break Black people in this country: slavery, Jim Crow, racism, multiple Presidents, the school to prison pipeline, the wage gap, crack, etc (we could go all day) — we have all lived through things that no human being should have to endure. And the last effects of these things have taken a toll on us mentally and emotionally. Yeah, we’ve become resilient because we’ve come through it but it’s now time for us to heal so that our children, the generations coming behind us, don’t have to suffer internally as they build a life for themselves.
You won’t be able to really post about it on social media, it’s an internal process that is led by you and you alone. It’s one that you have to make the conscious and intentional decision to embark on for yourself and as a community, we just want you to know that #blkcreatives is here to support your journey.
We want to see life a good life ON and OFFline.
Note: Once they’re sold out, that’s it!
